Neirenn

Neirenn is a relatively outgoing, chatty, and somewhat mischevious girl... she will tease her friends and can be a bit nosy and sly sometimes. But though in these aspects Neirenn is a typical fifteen-year-old girl, she is often rather thoughtful and perceptive, and can be a little mysterious... she will say or do things without explaining herself and trusts in her judgment and her abilities. She's loyal to her friends and those she cares about, but she isn't a saint. Neirenn is incredibly confident in her skills as a mage, and she likes it when people are impressed (or intimidated) by her skills. She's quick to break out her magic in most any situation, even if the use of it is frivolous, like giving a mild zap to someone annoying.

Neirenn is also highly ambitious. She wants to learn as much about magic as possible and if she is held back in any way, or ignored, she can become extremely frustrated and snappish. It doesn't matter what kind of magic it is, if Neirenn knows about it she wants to learn about it--even if it is a type of magic that is considered evil or forbidden. Though Neirenn is talkative and becomes more so when she's excited about something, she is also intensely private about painful and personal matters. She will express a desire to learn, but not necessarily why she wishes to do that, and if someone questions her about why she is down she will brush them off and try to keep them away.

Abilities

Neirenn's medium is magic. Human mages are a product of interbreeding with elves centuries ago, and rumored inbreeding among the people of Aydensfell to keep the magic blood strong. Neirenn is something of a prodigy, having roughly 20% of elven blood. She picks up new spells almost instantly and is very bright alongside her magical talent.

Although there isn't a defined spell list, Neirenn can use magic in both combat and everyday life. She can generate elemental magic to throw fireballs, lightning, water, and wind effectively in a fight. Her elemental affinity is towards water, and she is able to summon an elemental guardian that takes the form of a serpent-dragon.

In the area of less belligerent magic, Neirenn is able to turn herself invisible, teleport, and knows various handy spells to clean things like inkstains or possibly bloodstains. She can also summon items such as staffs into existance, although they have a limited lifespan.

As a result of her studies while journeying with Acheron, Neirenn now knows a siginificant amount of dark magic as well. Dark magic is discouraged and forbidden as the dark spirits whose power it draws from tend to corrupt the user, but Neirenn is strong enough to resist that. However, she is still fairly inexperienced with it. She has used it very effectively in battle against an old mage with weaker power than herself, able to attack and shield herself effectively, but the dark magic is more exhausting than her normal retinue of spells.

During the battle with Raul, Neirenn tried to summon her elemental guardian. To her shock, the elemental magic combined with dark magic to transform her water serpent into a much larger and more powerful dark-elemental version of it.

Weaknesses: As a mage, Neirenn has no skills in hand-to-hand combat, nor does any sort of experience with weapons. While she is very powerful from a distance and considers magic to be more effective than swords, she would still be in quite a bit of trouble if someone got close enough to do her damage.

Her pride in her abilities often crosses the line into arrogance and overconfidence, which can be off-putting to people who meet her and can put her in danger when she overestimates her ability to use her magic to get the better of a situation or an enemy.
